Nathan Gomes

Nathan Gomes

BCNA President

Nathan Gomes was elected President of the Bayview Cummer Neighbourhood Association (BCNA) in April 2021 and continues to carry out the objectives of the association, including:

  • Promoting, fostering and protecting the social, cultural, and recreational interests of the residents served by the association.
  • Protecting individual interests through collective action.
  • Gathering information concerning development proposals and representing and protecting these interests to the appropriate decision-making body.

Nathan is also a seasoned public servant with more than twenty years of experience across the Government of Ontario, where  he has designed a range policies, programs to improve the lives of Ontarians.

He holds a number of qualifications, including:

  • Masters of Laws (LL.M) in Public Procurement Law & Policy from the University of Nottingham;
  • Masters of Arts (MA) in Political Science from the University of Windsor;
  • BA. Spec. Hons in Public Policy & Administration from York University.
Paul Yeung

Paul Yeung

BCNA Vice-President

Is the Director of Public Affairs for JTI-Macdonald Corporation and a Global Fellow of the Woodrow Wilson Centre’s Canada Institute.

Previously, he has held Senior Government Relations positions at Phillip Morris International and the Royal Bank of Canada, responsible for the nationwide approach to provincial government relations; providing strategic, risk and issues management, policy direction, and communications advice. Prior to joining RBC, Paul was a Senior Policy Advisor to the Minister of Finance, in the province of Ontario.

Sugy Kodeeswaran

Sugy Kodeeswaran is the Executive Director of the Family Navigation Project an innovative non-profit at Sunnybrook hospital that provides expert navigation of mental health and addictions system for youth (age 13-26) and their families, who live in the Greater Toronto Area. She was also Senior Manager at Ontario Genomics, and Director at Ontario Tumor Bank. Sugy holds a BSc in Chemistry from McGIll University and a MHSc, Health Policy Management and Evaluation from the University of Toronto.

Beverly Brooks

Beverly is President of Brooks Communications where she implements investor relations strategies for companies in the cannabis, financial services, healthcare, pharmaceutical, energy, mining and telecommunications sector. Beverly brings decades of strategic communications experience at an executive level for major communication firms; and the Government of Canada. Beverly holds an MBA in International Finance from the University of Ottawa, and Masters of Arts in Economics from Carleton University.

Shalini Sethi

Treasurer

Shalini Sethi is the Finance Officer for the AGE-WELL Network. She is responsible for the effective and efficient financial administration of the network’s research funding and business development activities. Shalini works closely with financial analysts and managers in Research Financial Services at UHN, the network’s host institution to ensure day-to-day operations are carried out in accordance with the established accounting principles, institutional, network and funding agencies’ policies, and objectives.

Marija Mijalkovic

Member Representative - Age-Friendly Technology Lead

Marija Mijalkovic is the Artificial Intelligence Solutions Technical Leader at IBM Canada.  She has over 25 years of experience, building and developing trusted relationships with Canada’s largest enterprise and public sector organizations.  A disruptive innovation evangelist, Marija is committed to the challenge of challenging the status quo and helping execute disruptive technology strategies like AI, and Quantum Computing.   Marja sits on the board of IBM Women in Tech Sales and Diversity Equality Committee Board Member. Marija holds a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Toronto.

David Cohen

Member Representative

David Cohen is a retired Councillor for the City of Richmond Hill where he served from 1988 to 2010, where he served as Budget Chair, Hydro Commissioner and champion of ethnic communities in Richmond Hill.  David also serves on the Executive Board of Reena a charity for persons with disabilities and was awarded the Queens Diamond Jubilee Medal.

Aldo De Felice

Member Representative - Promotion and Media Relations Lead

President of TLN Media Group was born in Argentina and has been a lifelong resident of the Bayview Cummer neighbourhood.   Aldo is currently President of the Telalatino Network (TLN) where he has served as President for over two decades of Canada’s largest independent ethnic owned and focused company.   Aldo is also a corporate commercial lawyer and a graduate of the University of Toronto, Faculty of Law.

Vincent Mak

Member Representative - Willowdale Manor Seniors Liaison

Vincent is a community leader and represents nearly 40 members of the BCNA at Willowdale Manor Care Home in our catchment and leads seniors programing initiatives for older adults.
